Project Overview
Detached Property in Northfleet, Kent
Nova Construction was contacted by a homeowner in Northfleet looking to make the most of the space where an old conservatory sat at the back of their home. It was of no use to the family, freezing cold in winter and unbearably hot in summer. We took on a full design and build package, handling all necessary plans and submissions to the planning department at Gravesham Borough Council.
The Brief
The homeowner wanted to remove the conservatory entirely and replace it with a proper permanent extension, one that would give the family a brand new kitchen, dining area and living space all flowing together. The open-plan layout they had always wanted, delivered by one team from start to finish, with a fully completed space to walk into at the end.
With the conservatory removed, we designed the new extension around how the family actually lives day to day. Light, ceiling height and the flow between indoor and outdoor spaces were carefully considered throughout the design and build.
Our Approach
Key features of the build include:
Full removal of the existing conservatory and new brick-built rear extension
Vaulted ceiling with Velux roof windows
Full-width aluminium bi-folding doors to garden
Open-plan kitchen, dining and living layout
Porcelain tiled flooring
All structural work, plastering, flooring and kitchen fitting completed by a single team
The Finishing Touches
Nova Construction completed all structural alterations, plastering, flooring and kitchen installation to create a continuous open-plan environment linking the cooking, dining and seating areas.
With every element handled by one team, the homeowners were handed a fully finished, ready-to-use space on completion, no loose ends and no waiting on other trades.
The Result
What was once a cold, forgotten conservatory is now the heart of the home. A bright, open kitchen and living space that works just as well on a quiet weekday morning as it does on a summer's evening with the bi-folds thrown open and friends over to enjoy the new space and the garden.
